Pilot Unhurt After Emergency Landing In Everglades
MIAMI (CBSMiami) — The pilot of a small plane was rescued by the Coast Guard Monday after he had to make an emergency landing in the Everglades.
According to the FAA, a PA28 flying from Key West to Sarasota, landed in shallow water around 8:45 a.m. in the Everglades, about 15 miles southwest of Homestead, near Everglades National Park.
According to the Coast Guard, the pilot has been identified as Daniel Lawrence. He was the only person on board the single-engine aircraft when the plane started to lose power.
Officials said he was found standing on the plane's wing.
A Coast Guard crew airlifted Lawrence to Miami in stable condition. Damage to the aircraft is unknown.
The FAA is investigating.
Lawrence's hometown was not released.
