UM Fans Return Home After Blowout Loss To FSU

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) - The Florida State Seminoles defeated the Miami Hurricanes in Tallahassee Saturday, 41 to 14. Fans started filing out of Doak Campbell Stadium even before the game ended, a telltale sign of a blowout.

"Famous Jameis said when we do it, we do it big," one Seminole fan exclaimed.

Hurricane fans who made the trip to Florida's capital left defeated and devastated.

"I feel terrible," Mike Sagaro said. "I feel so hurt. I drove eight hours but it was a great experience."

The loss ends UM's undefeated season and will drop the team out of the Top 10 in the polls.

"We had everything going against us. We're the underdogs. We were away," Mark Lamb said.

The sting of losing was a rude reality after a day spent partying. A Tallahassee tailgate is an all-day affair. Some people started the festivities ten hours before kick-off.

"Everybody is passionate about it. Everybody wants to win," UM fan Peter Chao said before the game.

For twins Brian and Greg Layman, the rivalry runs deep.

Brian is a Noles fan, while Greg is a die-hard Cane.

"A little hostility here and there, but not too crazy because we know what's up. Five national championships vs. two. No big deal," Greg Layman explained.

FSU fans didn't mind the trash talk. In fact, dished out plenty of their own.

"The Hurricanes have already been downgraded to a tropical storm," one Florida State alum said before the game.

In the end, the 3rd ranked Seminoles proved why they were favored to beat The U.

Many fans fans credit redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston.

"Jameis 'Jesus' Winston is literally my father. He's the best player in college football, hands down," Gunnar Chatfield said.

The Canes might have to face Famous Jameis again this year.

"We will meet them again in the ACC championship. And we are going to win," UM fan David Kelly said.

The Seminoles' victory brings their all-time series win total to 27.

Miami have beaten the Florida State 31 times.

UM also leads FSU in national championships, but the Seminoles are looking to add another one of those this season.
