Aventura Mall Sets Record With Massive Mousse

AVENTURA (CBSMiami) – Two talented chefs and several able-bodied assistants help put the Aventura Mall in the Guinness World Record book.

Earlier this month Executive Chefs Rick Chiavari from Turnberry Ocean Colony and Danny Malone from Turnberry Isle Miami, as well as several volunteers from Johnson & Wales University culinary program, whipped up a record-setting chocolate mousse for the shopping center's annual Chocolate Festival.

Proceeds from the festival benefit the Children's Craniofacial Association, a national non-profit organization that addresses the medical, financial, emotional, and educational concerns of children with craniofacial conditions.

The 496 pound dessert featured a whopping 108 pounds of chocolate, 66 pounds of butter, 24 pounds of egg yolk, 20 pounds of sugar, 50 quarts of heavy cream and five gallons of milk. All ingredients were combined using a 60-quart mixer and chilled in a nearby refrigerator truck
before being poured into a 120-pound acrylic container to be officially weighed and served to the public.

This week the mall received word that they had officially made the world's largest chocolate mousse.

"We are excited to make history, but most of all, we are happy to benefit the Children's Craniofacial Association," said Jackie Soffer, principal of Turnberry Associates, owner and manager of Aventura Mall, in a statement.

The previous world record for the largest chocolate mousse was 313 pounds set in France in
2010.
