Heat Waive Griffin And Hamilton, Get Roster To 15

MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Heat waived forward Eric Griffin and center Justin Hamilton on Saturday, moves that get the two-time defending NBA champions' roster down to 15 players.

Both were signed by the Heat in September to deals that gave them a chance to make the team in training camp, and they lasted with the team for the entirety of the preseason schedule.

Griffin appeared in seven preseason games, averaging 1.7 points in 6.1 minutes.

Hamilton averaged 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in five preseason games.

Miami opens its season on Tuesday night at home against Chicago. The Heat will raise their championship banner and get the rings commemorating last season's title in a pregame ceremony.
