Stolen Car Crashed Into Pompano Beach Home

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A man in Pompano Beach started Friday morning with a car crashing into his home.

The home is located at 2030 NW 1st Terrace.

Neighbors said the car was speeding when it slammed into the house just after 7:30 a.m.

"It was going real fast.  I was like is it gonna stop soon to turn?" said a witness who wanted to remain anonymous.

"It was a big boom. All the neighbors came out. Everybody came out, we were standing there one of my friends turned off the car. It started smoking.  I thought it was going to be a fire.  I said turn off the car see if anyone's inside the house.  Somebody was inside the house.  Thank God everyone's okay," the witness added.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the car was stolen and the subject fled the scene after the crash.

"He couldn't open the front door.  He got in backseat and came out the passenger side and just ran, booked it, no shoes on, no shirt, just black shorts and just ran," the witness told CBS4's Maggie Newland.

It's not clear how the crash happened. BSO said no pursuit of any type was taking place at the time of the crash.

The home did have structural damage, but the man inside was not injured.

Tim People's lives next door. "I just woke up and i saw all these cops out here and I peeped out in front of my boat there and I looked and seen a car hanging out of my neighbor's house," he said adding, "I was quite amazed when I seen it."
