Man Surrenders After SWAT Team Surrounds Davie Home

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – One person was taken into custody after police and U.S. Marshals surrounded a Davie home early Thursday morning as part of Plantation murder investigation.

Chopper 4 over the scene on South Cypress Cove Circle spotted a Davie police tactical vehicle parked in front of a home on a tree lined street as officers decked out in protective gear flanked either side.

According to Plantation police, the body 26-year old Joel Humberto Rosillo was found at 10757 Cleary Boulevard on October 16th around 5:30 p.m.  Rosillo had been shot in the head.  During the course of the investigation, detectives received information that led them to a home at 13936 South Cypress Cove in Davie.

Around 9:30 a.m., three people came out of the front door with their hands raised in surrender. As two of the people walked to waiting officers a third person, identified as 25-year old Juan Machin Jr., was ordered to lie on the sidewalk face down.

Officers moved in, handcuffed Machin and led him away.

"We saw SWAT set up around the house. Then we saw the guy being taken away in handcuffs," said Patrick Ryan.

"We have one person in custody. There is no further information available because it may jeopardize our investigation," said Plantation police Detective Robert Rettig.

Because of the massive police operation, some residents were prevented from leaving the neighborhood while others could not get in.

"So many people are frustrated they want to go home, take a shower and go to work.," said Nidhined Gupta who was stopped by police.

At one point two area schools were placed on lockdown and part of a busy shopping plaza was shutdown.

"I noticed cops blocking off every entrance to my store. They said they were looking for a homicide suspect, a bad man actually," said Lorenzo Basanta.

Police have not said if Machin was a suspect in the shooting.
