Terminal Re-Opens At Miami International Airport After Evacuation

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A south terminal at Miami International Airport was temporarily evacuated Wednesday morning after something suspicious was found at a check point.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. in Terminal J.  A bomb sniffing K-9 alerted its handler to something on a pallet at gate 9 of the terminal.

Airport security evacuated the second and third levels of terminal and moved planes away from it.

A bomb squad from Miami-Dade police was called in to check out the item.

The all clear was given around 8:30 a.m. and concourse was re-opened.  Airport officials said one arrival and one departure were delayed for about 30 minutes.
