Shutdown Doesn't Stop Columbus Day Weekend Party
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The government shutdown couldn't stop the party on the waters of Biscayne National Park.
Biscayne National Park is one of many federal parks that are closed during the shutdown, but boaters risked potential fines tying up near Elliott Key Saturday.
Boaters seemed to have no issues staying put, despite a local police helicopter and state wildlife officials patrolling the area.
The shutdown did force some party goers to a different location, Nixon Beach off Key Biscayne.
Officials have warned they will be out writing tickets and arresting drunk and disorderly boaters.
