ASPCA Holds 12-Hour Pet Adoption Event In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — If you're looking to expand your family by adopting a cute kitty or playful puppy, head on over to Tropical Park in Miami where the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding a marathon pet adoption event.

Hundreds of cats, dogs, puppies and kittens from Miami-Dade shelters and rescue groups are looking for forever homes Saturday at Tropical Park.

The event is one of several being organized throughout the country by the ASPCA.

All adoption fees will be reduced and there will be festivities and games for children and families. Admission to the event is free. It runs until 9 p.m.

Over 27,000 pets are abandoned at the Miami-Dade animal shelter each year.
