Police Pursuit Of Armed Robber In Hialeah Ends In Crash

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) - An armed robbery in Hialeah led to a police pursuit, ending in the suspect's car, a maroon Volkswagen Passat, colliding with a police cruiser.

The armed robbery occurred at 2125 West 52nd Street in Hialeah.

According to Hialeah police spokesman Det. Carl Zogby, it is unknown if the victim was hurt.

The police pursuit ended with a crash at Northwest 32nd Avenue and 179th Street. Police arrested Antoine Bacquie,  23, and charged him with numerous drug charges, assault on an officer and trying to elude police.

While the chase was going on, a secondary accident happened involving a Hialeah Police Department K-9 unit. According to Zogby, the K-9 unit hit another vehicle.

Neither the officer driving, nor the other driver were injured in the second accident.

However, the dog, "Bill" was limping after the accident and was taken to Hollywood Animal Hospital to be examined.

Detective Zogby said "Bill" was going to be just fine.

A total of three police vehicles were damaged in the chase.

Hialeah Police said they have recovered a firearm and a gold chain thus far in the investigation.
