Heat Pick Up Option On Norris Cole

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Heat point guard Norris Cole has only known one NBA team since he joined the league and the Heat are not about to let him get away.

The Heat announced Tuesday that it has exercised its team option on Cole for the 2014-2015 season. Cole becomes the first player guaranteed to be with the Heat through that season.

While the team didn't disclose details, the deal is reported to be for $2 million.

Most of the rest of the team can either opt-out and become free agents, or, have expiring contracts before then.

Cole has appeared in 145 career games and averages 6.1 points, 2 assists, 1.5 rebounds and shoots 40.7 percent from the field.

The Cleveland State product also has something even Hall of Fame players never get, two NBA championship rings.
