BSO: Detectives Nab Would-Be Liquor Store Burglars

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – Being in the right place at the right time helped Broward Sheriff's detectives nab a couple of people before they could allegedly burglarize a liquor store.

A sheriff's office Crime Suppression Team was conducting a surveillance operation at a shopping plaza at 2531 W. Sample Road in Deerfield Beach on Monday morning just when they noticed something suspicious just after midnight.\

A man and woman dressed all in black broke the glass of the vacant Quizno's next to the Mystical Spirits Wine & Liquor store.

The not-so-subtle thieves were reportedly in the process of cutting a hole into the wall of the business when they got caught.

The detectives called for assistance from a Pompano Beach Crime Suppression Team, and a sheriff's office SWAT team, which surrounded the business.

As SWAT team members entered through the shattered storefront, the would-be crooks tried to run out the through the back door only to be greeted by sheriff's officers.

They face charges of burglary to a business and possession of burglary tools. Araujo also admitted to taking part in an early August burglary to a Metro PCS store in Pompano Beach and was add-charged with burglary and grand theft.
