Woman Killed After She Walked Into Traffic On Federal Highway

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Davie woman was killed when she walked into the path of oncoming traffic just north of Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Now Broward Sheriff's investigators want to know what led her to do it.

It happened Friday night around 11:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of South Federal Highway.

Kristina Trudell, 32, was in the passenger seat of a Hyundai pulled off to the side of the road when, for some reason, she got out of the car and walked into the northbound lanes.

Laura Thorn, 28, of Boca Raton couldn't stop in time and struck Trudell.

Trudell was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.

Thorn remained on the scene.
