Police Investigating Fatal Shooting In NE Miami-Dade

NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade Police haven't released the name of the man shot dead Saturday afternoon, but his family frantically arrived and left the scene after the body was removed.

A neighbor who didn't want to be identified said, "I heard the three shots but we hear shots all the time. I thought it was fireworks or maybe it could have been an accident. Sometimes you hear noises. Machines."

Neighbors--reluctant to go on camera--said they heard it all.  Another neighbor said they heard and saw the shooting and then ran inside.

"I feel bad, I feel bad. I don't feel safe no more I don't feel safe because you don't know,"  said another neighbor.

The shooting spree happened around 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon near NE 6th Ave. and 167th street .  Three bullet holes mark up a Nissan Altima at the scene.  The driver inside the Nissan took a fatal hit.

A neighbor said, "Oh my god, I don't even think I should be outside anymore this is really devastating."

When police arrived the Nissan was backed up into a fence with his rear lights on, indicating the driver tried to flee or lost control of the car.  This incident highlights for neighbors the growing crime in the area.

"Now things are changing there's a lot of break-ins when people are home sometimes, two , two times in the same neighborhood," said one neighbor.

Residents also tell us they heard gunfire  earlier this morning before sunrise. As for who is responsible, police say up to fiive people who approached the victim may be involved.
