Precautionary Boil Water Notice Issued For Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – A precautionary boil water notice has been issued due to a water main break in Hollywood.

A utility contractor working in the area of South 28th Avenue and Van Buren Street in Hollywood caused a 24-inch water main break.

The area has substantial flooding and drivers are being asked to avoid the area from Hollywood Boulevard south to Washington between 29th and 27th avenues.

The break caused a drop in water pressure throughout the system and water pressure remains reduced city-wide.

The loss of pressure prompted the Department of Public Utilities to issue the precautionary boil water notice for all customers in the City of Hollywood.

Officials ask that, until the problem is fixed, water is boiled before consuming.

Before drinking, bring water to a rolling boil, allow it to boil for one minute, and then allow it to cool. Bottled water in the meantime is also a temporary solution.

Use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, preparing food, and washing dishes.

Crews are working to fix the issue and once the water testing comes back OK, the notice will be lifted.
