Dump Truck Runs Over Man While Sleeping On Sidewalk
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A startling discovery was made in a Miami parking lot Saturday morning and now police are looking for the driver of a dump truck who they believe ran over and killed a man in the area.
Police said a man's body was found at 2810 NW 12th Avenue and they were able to determine what happened by looking at surveillance video.
According to officers, a dump truck was traveling on southbound on 12th Avenue and pulled into a gas station.
That's when officials said a man, Wilfredo Santana, 54, was run over by the truck as he was lying in the road.
"We're waiting to talk to him but from what we have observed it's very possible that he might not have recognized that he ran over somebody," said Detective William Moreno of the Miami Police Department.
It appears the driver did not know what happened, according to police.
Officers are attempting to make contact with the driver of the truck.
