Pompano Beach Residents Should Be Prepared For Emergency Call

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Pompano Beach residents and business owners will receive a phone call from city officials about an emergency disaster.

But don't panic, it's just a test.

The city will be sending out calls to make sure that the community's emergency notification system is working efficiently.

The CodeRed system will be able to dial up to 60,000 phone numbers in a hour and send recorded messages about any crisis, such as a boil-water notice or a missing child alert, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Anyone who lives in that community is urged to to visit the city's website and make sure their contact information is available and up to date.

The Sun-Sentinel has contributed to this report.
