iPhone 5S & 5C Hit Store Shelves

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C went on sale Friday morning and some devoted Apple-ites lined up in front of stores across the country to get the latest technology from Cupertino.

Around 300 people lined up outside the Apple Store on Miami Beach Friday morning hoping to get their hands on the newest iPhone.

"I wanna be the first one to get it out of my friends," said Daniela Daniel.

One man, Lloyd Pearson, arrived at 3 a.m. Thursday morning to claim his spot in line.

"It's not crazy, this is South Beach," Pearson told CBS4's Gaby Fleischman. "There are people walking up and down the street all day and all night, so it's not a big deal. Waiting somewhere else might be a little bit crazier; it's not like it's boring or anything here."

Pearson continued, "I'm feeling pretty tired, but I'm almost to the end now. Just going to ride it home now."

Pearson ended up buying two iPhones, one for himself and one to sell for profit.

If demand at the stores matches demand online, the new gold colored iPhones will be in the highest demand. Online, the initial supply of the gold iPhone was put into backorder within 10 minutes of going on sale at midnight, according to CNET.com.

The backorder for the gold iPhone was in place for all three sizes of the phone, 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB.

Apple has asked parts supplier to ramp up production of the gold iPhone's components after demand outpaced supply Friday morning.

The Apple Store on Miami Beach sold out of phones by noon, but for a few lucky Apple fans; they got exactly what they came for Friday.

"I got the last white one, so it went good for me today," said Ryan Drummond.
