Hialeah 2-Year-Old Dies After Fall From Second Story Of Motel

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – A two-year-old boy who fell from a second story window has died.

Hialeah Police said they were called to the El Paraiso Motel on the night of September 13, and rescue units transported the young boy to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He spent several days there before he died.

Detectives said they learned the boy, another five-month-old boy and the boy's parents were staying in the motel  on the second floor and had been for two days.

Department of Children and Families took custody of the five-month-old boy. It's believed the children's parents were using cocaine and alcohol at the time the child fell, according to Hialeah Police.

Luis Rodriguez, 26, and Jacqueline Sanchez, 27, were arrested and charged with child abuse because of the presence of narcotics in their room near the children, according to police.

They bonded out of jail.

Hialeah police said new charges have not been filed since the boy's death and an investigation is underway to determine if the fall was accidental.
