Boil Water Order Issued For Eastern Sunrise

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A boil water order has been issued for eastern Sunrise after a water main break.

Early Monday, the line at NW 19th Street and NW 60th Avenue developed a leak. The street was shut down to traffic as workers drained the water and got to work repairing the rupture.

The boil water order is for customers of Sunrise Utilities who live from NW 11th Street north to NW 24th Street and from NW 58th Terrace west to NW 68th Avenue.  Sunrise Utilities said approximately 1,500 customers are affected.

During a boil water order, do not use tap water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, washing, brushing teeth, and making ice or infant formula.

Those who want to disinfect their tap water can bring it to a full, rolling boil for at least one minute and then let it cool. Or they can use eight drops of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
