Young Girl Injured In Fall From Balcony At Disney World Hotel

LAKE BUENA VISTA (CBSMiami/AP) – A young girl, during a stay at the Walt Disney Word's Animal Kingdom Villas, was injured after she fell from a third-floor balcony.

A 6-year-old girl, according to Orange County Sheriff's Office, fell Monday from the balcony of her family's room.

The girl's father told a security officer that he was taking a shower when he heard his daughter, whose name wasn't released, scream.

Her father said that he ran down the stairs and jumped over a wall in order to get his daughter.

The girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she is believed to be in stable condition.

The Animal Kingdom Villas surround a preserve filled with free-roaming animals and birds, but park officials told authorities that animals don't have access to the area where the girl fell.

Detectives believe the fall was accidental, but it remains under investigation.
