Car Slams Into Closed Business

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A business owner was surprised Wednesday morning when upon arriving to work, he discovered an SUV crashed into the building.

Chopper 4 hovered over the scene Wednesday morning where police say the owner of Vaval's Auto Repair called 9-1-1 about 8:30 am.

The driver, according to police, died on the scene. He has not been identified but is believed to be in his 20s.

Business owners and residents of the area, near Northwest 119th Street and West Dixie Highway, said that they are not surprised as accidents happen in that location often.

"Everybody tries to catch that left turn so it just keep going. Some people catch it the wrong time, some people race and go really fast and try to catch it before the light changes and so he could've lost control," said Jackie, who lives near Vaval's Auto Repair.

Miami-Dade Fire's technical rescue crew has been on scene for more than hour trying to figure out how to safely remove the large piece of debris and to be sure the building is structurally safe enough to remove the car—where the driver's body remained.
