Diana Nyad Closer To Florida On Second Day Than Previous Attempts

KEY WEST (CBSMiami/AP) -- In her final attempt to swim to the Florida Keys from Cuba, U.S. endurance athlete Diana Nyad has made it through much of her second day in the water without any problems

Nyad's representatives said she's making good progress.

Her team posted on Facebook Sunday afternoon that she had "swum farther north than the farthest end point of any of her previous attempts."

During feeding earlier, Nyad mentioned pressure in her lungs. Doctors checked her vitals and reported that her blood pressure was normal and her lungs were clear.

She made it through her first night in the Straits of Florida with almost no sightings of jellyfish.

The 64-year-old is trying to become the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. It's her fourth attempt in the last three years.

If she's successful this time, she expects to take about 80 hours to reach the Florida Keys.
