Critical Mass Ride May Cause Critical Traffic In Downtown Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There could be some traffic trouble Friday night in downtown Miami due to a Bruno Mars concert and the monthly Critical Mass bike ride.

The twelve and a half mile bike ride begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Government Center in downtown Miami.

It winds through Riverside, Little Havana, Grapeland Heights, Allapattah, Brownsville, Liberty City, Wynwood, Overtown and then back to downtown Miami.

While the ride starts at 7:30 p.m., the Bruno Mars concert begins at 8:00 p.m. at the AmericanAirlines Arena so if you plan on heading into the area, make sure you leave extra early and be sure to watch out for the cyclists.

The Critical Mass movement is about having drivers respect cyclists and share the road with them.

The group also wants cities to invest millions in special bike lanes where they feel they can ride more safely. It does this by having the mass rides with the hopes of causing massive delays and frustration for drivers.
