Margate Police Officers Hear Gunshots, Find Man And Woman Dead

MARGATE (CBSMiami) – Margate Police are investigating the deaths of a man and woman Saturday night.

Late Saturday, officers confirmed a murder suicide took place.

According to a spokesperson with Margate Police, officers received a phone call just after 6:30 p.m. from a man that said there would be a murder suicide and hung up the phone.

Police went to the address of at 1700 NW 80th Avenue, #103.

While there, the spokesperson said the officers saw a man come out of the apartment and look around.

After that, police said he went back inside and closed the door.

When officers tried to reach the man, officers said they heard gunshots.

The Margate Police Department Special Response Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded.

Negotiators attempted to make contact with the man, but were unable to do so.

Once officers were able to go inside the home, several hours later, they discovered a man in his sixties and a woman in her eighties dead.

What led to the deadly scene is under investigation.

Names of the victims have not been released.
