Fmr. Tennis Star Capriati Heading To Court

WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami) - Former tennis star Jennifer Capriati's attorney was in court Friday morning for a stalking and battery case that involves her ex-boyfriend.

Capriati, 37, is accused of punching her ex while he worked out at a gym on Valentine's Day. Authorities also said Capriati had been stalking her ex-boyfriend, Ivan Brannan, for months.

Capriati's attorney has called the accusations false.

At the hearing, a trial date of December 17 was set for the case. Capriati did not attend the hearing Friday.

Capriati is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame who began her professional career at age 13. She won a gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and later won the French and Australian opens. She also was arrested for shoplifting and marijuana possession in the 1990s.
