Car Slams Into Pines Store

PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A quick stop at a Pembroke Pines convenience store ended in a spray of shattered glass and tangled metal Tuesday morning.

Just before 10 a.m. a 24-year old Masely Logan pulled into a strip shopping at 9051 Pembroke Road with the intention of getting a drink before heading off to work.

"I pulled up to get something in the store and the next thing I know I hit the brake. There were no brakes so it went through the glass," said Logan.

The car shot forward and through the glass front door into the store.

The store's owner, SK Ali, was behind the counter.  He said he heard the car smash through the glass and dove for cover.

"It was really scary, you don't know how scary.  I saw this and the noise and the car inside," said Ali.

Ali said the car smashed into the counter where he had been standing.

"Within two seconds I was just shouting 'turn of the engine, turn off the engine'.  She turned off the engine, everything in the front is a mess," said Ali.

Ali was not hurt and Logan received only minor injuries.

Logan said she had just gotten her car repaired and hopes it can be fixed again.

A building inspector has been called out to determine the extent of the structural damage and whether it is safe to be inside the store.
