Car Careens Into Bus Bench, Kills Waiting Passenger, In Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBSMiami) – A person waiting for a bus Wednesday morning was seriously hurt and later died at the hospital after being struck by a car at a bus stop in Lauderdale Lakes.

The accident took place at NW 35th Avenue and West Oakland Park Boulevard.

In video from Chopper 4, there was blood on the sidewalk and the bus bench which is normally under a shaded bus shelter, was no longer attached to the concrete but instead crumpled and dented on the sidewalk.

The vehicle involved in the crash didn't stop until it struck an electrical pole about 200 feet in front of the bus stop.

A woman sitting on the bus bench was hospitalized but died later at the hospital, according to BSO.

It's not known if the driver of the car was seriously hurt.
