No Third Season For Magic City

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Fans of the show Magic City will be disappointed to hear the show will not get a third season on Starz.

The drama is loosely based on the Fountainebleau in the 1960s.

According to CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald and Deadline Hollywood, the show will end after its second season.

The golden age of Miami Beach hotels will be ending its run on premium cable.

Shot in Miami, the show boasted a significant production budget (it built a faux Fontainebleau lobby and pool in a sound stage off the Miami River) and the potential to be Mad Men meets the Sopranos.

In fact, Starz reportedly ordered a second season the series to be filmed even before the premiere made air.

The show centered around the fictional Miramar Playa Hotel didn't snag the audience Starz had hoped would latch on to the show.

The end of Magic City comes days after Burn Notice wrapped filming on its series finale after filming seven seasons in a Coconut Grove studio for the USA cable network.
