Husband Accused Of Beating Wife & Biting Off Her Nipple

DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Deerfield Beach man faced a judge for the first time Monday after allegedly beating his wife and biting off her nipple.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Robert Ruman, 55, was arrested after a standoff with police for allegedly beating his wife, Judy. BSO said that Judy stated her husband had been acting "bizarre" throughout the day before the two were alone in the house last Thursday.

Judy Ruman said that her husband, "completely lost control." According to BSO, the wife said that Robert "began to beat her with his fists and even struck her on top of her head with the iron fireplace poker."

BSO said the beating stopped when Robert's pants fell off and Judy was able to escape and run across the street for help. Judy told BSO that Robert threatened to kill her and then himself because he didn't want a divorce.

"She was in intensive care for two days with severe head wounds and also other injuries," said Holly Tucker of BSO's special victims unit in court Tuesday. "He said he was going to kill her and that its time to die."

BSO's arrest report said that some of the injuries to Judy Ruman, "appeared to cause permanent disfigurement." According to the BSO, Ruman required staples and stitches to close wounds on her head and face and said her husband bit her nipple off during the fight.

Judy Ruman also had bruises and lacerations to her back, torso, arms, and legs, according to the BSO report. BSO said they recovered a large knife and two iron pokers which may have been used during the beating.

"The victim is in fear if he gets out of jail," Tucker told Broward County Judge John Hurley.

But Robert Ruman won't be happening anytime soon as Judge Hurley ordered him held without bond.
