Miramar PD Investigating Two Armed Robberies Within Hour

MIRAMAR (CBS4) - Police in Miramar are trying to solve a pair of armed robberies that occurred in their city less than an hour apart Tuesday afternoon. Police tell CBS 4 News they are looking into whether the crimes are connected.

Miramar Police say the first crime occurred at a dry cleaning business near Hiatus Road and Pembroke Road around 2:50 pm. The second crime, investigators say, occurred at a Metro PCS store around 3:30 pm on Palm Avenue near Miramar Parkway.

Surveillance cameras rolled inside the Metro PCS store, capturing images of two men who police say held up the store at gunpoint.

An employee named Angela -- she did not want to provide her last name -- told CBS 4 News that the men came in wearing some sort of work uniform and looked at a phone for a few minutes. She said she didn't think much of it until the men pulled out guns.

"(The armed robber) clicked the gun -- that's the first thing he did," she told CBS 4's Carey Codd. "I got very scared."

Angela said as the surveillance cameras rolled each man pulled out a gun and pointed the weapons at her and her coworker. Angela said the men took some cash and were walking toward the exit before making a comment the victim's didn't expect.

"When they were walking out one of them tried to flirt with us!" she said. "When they were leaving the store they were saying how beautiful we were."

Angela hopes someone sees the surveillance images, recognizes the men and turns them in.

"I'm concerned for our safety because a lot of times we're here by ourselves," she said.

Police tell CBS 4 News they are working to compare surveillance video from the Metro PCS store to the dry cleaning robbery and see if it is indeed the same bad guys at work. If you have any information on these crimes call Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
