One Man Shot In Oakland Park Gas Station Robbery

OAKLAND PARK (CBS4)  -- A gas station robbery ended in gunfire in Oakland Park Sunday night.

One man was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds according to Broward County Sheriff's deputies.

BSO reports the man is 60-years-old and the owner of a Valero gas station at 1251 Northeast 45th Street.

According to investigators, the man and his wife were closing up the station just before 8:00  p.m., Sunday, when a masked man came into the station to rob them.

At some point, investigators say the robber fired striking the man.

A Broward County Sheriff's deputy described the injuries as "very serious."

Ryan Sullivan pulled up to the gas station shortly after the crime. "We did see a stretcher coming out of the gas station and put into an ambulance," he said.

Sullivan said BSO K9 units and a helicopter searched for the gunman, but deputies said it appeared he left the area.

Anyone with information should call (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
