Hollywood Double Murder Victims Identified

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) – Police are on the hunt for the suspects who gunned down two men at a Hollywood home Saturday morning.

The shooting happened at 1845 Taylor Street.

Late Saturday night, Hollywood Police released the names of the two victims; Andre Kemp and Michael Clayton Baker, both are 22-years-old.

Andre Kemp lived close by at 1837 Taylor Street.

So far, it's not known where Baker lived.

Vicki Kuhl's front yard and back alley became the focus of the double murder investigation.

Kuhl told CBS4's Maggie Newland she didn't hear the shots that killed the two men overnight. Instead, she said she heard knocking.

"I heard somebody like pounding on the door so I answered the back door and I didn't see anybody back there and I went to the front door and Ii saw the man laying in the yard and I thought he was just passed out."

"I fell back asleep at 4:30 (a.m.), a friend called and said you've got police all over there's a man dead in your yard," added Kuhl.

One man was dead in her front yard and another in the alley behind the house.

"It's sad it's very, very sad and it's upsetting when you wake up and you walk around the corner and you see a dead body on the lawn," said Lisa Lopez.

Even more disturbing, neighbors said they recognized one of the victims.

"I seen him laying there and I know that was him the man who lives here," Brad Schild told Newland.

"It's very alarming and it's frightening and it's sad because we did know the kid he had a young child and a girlfriend," added Lopez.

Neighbors said at least one of the victims lived in the building next door and now police are hoping neighbors will be able to help them solve the crime.

Lieutenant Nikki Coffin with the Hollywood Police Department explained what is next. "Our detectives are trying to get info from people who live in the area trying to see if anybody heard anything that maybe they didn't report, does anyone have information about something that was going on here suspicious vehicles; any info that can help us in the investigation."

The double murder has some of the people in the community wanting to leave the area right away.

"We want to move because we don't want to live in this environment anymore," said Lopez.

Kuhl was already planning to live elsewhere.

"We were in the process of moving this weekend, we're gonna be moving away and stuff and that's what my daughter said it's just getting too dangerous."

The investigation continues and Hollywood Police Department is asking for witnesses or any information regarding the murders to come forward by contacting the Hollywood Police Department at (954) 967-HELP or call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
