Police: Purse Snatchers Caught On Camera

PLANTATION (CBS4) – Plantation police are looking for a couple of thieves who tackled a woman and stole her purse.

The crime was captured on surveillance video.

It happened Friday night, July 12, 2013 at the Amber Inn motel at 790 S. State Road 7.

In the surveillance you see Taveras carrying grocery bags.  She has headphones on as she walks to her door.

The next thing you see is two men sneak up behind her, push her to the ground and take off with her purse.

Her fiance Enious Bush rushes out of the room and takes off after the assailants.

“I ran and I tripped.  I jumped over her to get to the one guy.  I could see he was a lost soul,” Bush tells CBS4’s Joan Murray.

He says Taveras didn’t suffer any broken bones but is, “black and blue and preferred to stay inside to feel safe,” after the crime.

Surveillance captures the bad guys running to a red car and taking off, but police are asking for help to identify the two men.

Detectives believe the crime is a reminder of why you always need to be aware of your surroundings.

Ironically Bush says his fiance has such a big heart, she would have given the men all they had if they had just asked.

If you have information call Broward Crimestoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
