Sunrise Man Wanted By FBI In Child Porn Investigation

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The FBI has asked for the public's help in tracking down a Sunrise man wanted for possession of child pornography.

Stanley Simms, 47, was last seen by investigators on June 7th at the residence he shared with his brother. Simms may be driving green/gray BMW with Florida tag number 426 VXU. He's also known to drive an older model purple pick up truck.

According to the FBI, Simms is known to frequent adult entertainment clubs in South Florida, particularly in Broward County.

The investigation into Simms began last September when police found folders in an account on the filing sharing network Ares P2P which contained child pornography. Over the following months, investigators were able to download more child pornography from the same account. They identified nearly 200 files of interest - most were videos of underage girls engaging in sex acts with adult males, according to investigators.

The internet address was registered to Comcast and belonged to Paul Simms in Sunrise, according to a criminal complaint against Stanley Simms.

On June 7th, investigators went to Simms' residence with a search warrant. Stanley Simms answered the door and reportedly voluntarily agreed to speak to them. Simms said he shared the place with his brother and the Comcast account was in his brother's name, but he also used it.

Simms allegedly admitted to agents that he used his computer to download porn. He reportedly told the investigators he would download videos in batches and watch them later. He added that when he found files with child porn on them he would delete them.

"Simms stated he understood that when Ares files were downloaded to certain folders on his computer, other users on the Ares network were able to view and download those files," according to the criminal complaint.

A search of the residence turned up a computer in Simms bedroom with the Ares file sharing program installed on it. They also found a thumb drive with child porn on it.

The FBI also wants to question Simms about an alleged sexual assault of an adult female who could have been drugged in South Florida around December 2012.

Anyone with information on Simms' whereabouts is urged to call the FBI in Miami at (305) 944-9101 or the Sunrise police department.
