Sketch Released In Attempted Abduction Of Ft. Laud. Girl

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) -- Fort Lauderdale Police have released a sketch of a man they believe attempted to abduct a 9-year-old girl from a busy street Monday afternoon.

The man forced the girl into his car according to police, but according to investigators, the child struggled with the man and was able to get out of the moving vehicle.

She then ran to a Boys and Girls Club nearby for help where adults called police.

The attempted abduction happened just after 1 p.m. at Northwest 9th Avenue and Northwest 2nd Street according to police investigators.

They are looking for a newer model, white, 4-door Chevy Impala that the victim says the man was driving.

A description of the clothing the suspect was wearing was also released Wednesday.

According the young girl, the man was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt and dark green pants.

He is believed to be about 5 feet 7 inches or 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 to 150 pounds.
