Report: Biogenesis Employee Wants $1 Million From MLB

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has made hundreds of millions of dollars throughout his baseball career. But it’s possible one million dollars could be the final nail in A-Rod’s career.
According to TMZ.com, Major League Baseball met with Porter Fischer, who claims to have proof that players like A-Rod and Ryan Braun bought PED’s from the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables.
TMZ reported that Fischer’s attorney said his client and MLB discussed a deal in which the league would acquire the records that Fischer alleges implicates more than 100 players. However, TMZ reported Fischer won’t give up the records for less than one million dollars.
The clinic, run at the time by Anthony Bosch, has been linked by published reports from the Miami New Times, ESPN, and others as providing PED’s to A-Rod.
Ever since the New Times broke the story, Major League Baseball has been in pursuit of both Bosch and any other employee who might have enough information for MLB to impose suspensions on stars including A-Rod.
Rodriguez just made his first appearance in a minor-league game Tuesday as part of his rehab from offseason hip surgery. A-Rod looked like a shell of his former self and was 0-2 in the game.
Even if Fischer has everything he’s claimed, MLB faces a decision of how far they want to push the case and how far they are willing to go to get the evidence they need.
