Missing Boaters Off Coast Of Honduras Found

MIAMI (CBS4) — The U.S. Coast Guard in Miami said eight missing boaters off the coast of Honduras were located.

The 28-foot boat carrying five Hondurans, a Canadian and two Americans had been heard from since setting sail for Utila Island in Honduras.

U.S. Coast Guard located the boat 66 miles away from the boat's departure point.

It left the western end of Roatan, Honduras, on Saturday afternoon. The U.S. Coast Guard says a family member of the U.S. citizens had reported the boat missing.

A C130 from Clearwater located the boaters and they were put onto a Coast Guard helicopter.

The Coast Guard has not released information about the condition of the boaters.

The Honduran navy also assisted in the search.
