Former Restaurant Magnate Charged Over October Crash
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A former Miami Beach restaurant magnate turned himself in to police in Miami Saturday to face charges stemming from an October car accident.
Jonathan Eismann, 52, was arrested Saturday on two charges: vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. Eismann was a prominent chef in Miami Beach in the late 1980's, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.
Eismann allegedly was driving along NW 72nd Avenue when he hit a pedestrian near NW 3rd Street on October 10, 2012. According to the Herald, Eismann was allegedly driving from another crash he was involved in and then lost control of his Ford Explorer.
Jean Carlos Ruiz, the father of a one-year-old child, died in the accident. At a memorial after the accident, friends described Ruiz as "always happy and dancing, happy and dancing, and showing off his daughter."
