Presidential Election Commission Meeting In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — A commission set up by President Barack Obama to fix the voting problems experienced by voters in Florida was holding its first public meeting in Miami Friday.

The Presidential Commission on Election Administration was at the University of Miami Friday for the day-long event. It will hear testimony and take public comment from election officials and citizens.

President Obama formed the bi-partisan commission to improve the electoral process after voters faced long lines and other obstacles in last year's elections. Miami was ground zero for Florida's voting problems: Some voters waited between five and eight hours to cast ballots.

Among those scheduled to speak is Desiline Victor, a 102-year-old North Miami woman who waited hours to vote in the 2012 election.

Obama hosted her at his State of the Union address this year.
