Bradenton Woman Found Dead, Ex-Boyfriend Flies To Colombia

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) – A man believed to now be in Colombia is being called a person of interest in a Florida murder case.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's office, Andres Collazos flew out of Fort Lauderdale, Sunday.

That is the same day the man's ex-girlfriend, Jazmin Catano, was found dead in her apartment in Bradenton.

"Everyone was telling us that he had said some things in threatening manners to her, then this afternoon we find out that he left the country well that pretty much sealed the deal for us in terms of making him a person of interest," said Dave Bristow with the Manatee County Sheriff's office.

Manatee County Sheriff's deputies will be processing a vehicle Collazos allegedly left at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

"Now we're just trying to develop him into a suspect so we can get an arrest warrant, said Bristow.

While investigators continue their work, friends of 30-year-old Catano are grieving.

"She was just a proud and loving mom," according to coworker Christine Clyne.

The mother of two worked in the court system.

"Just her kindness and her intelligence. She was a very nice person," said Clyne.
