TD #2 Drenches Yucatan, Central America

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Depression #2 is dumping heavy rain on Mexico and the system could reach tropical storm status Wednesday morning.

Mexico has already issued a tropical storm watch from Punta El Lagarto westward to Barra De Nautla.

That means tropical storm conditions are likely within 24 to 36 hours.

At 10pm Tuesday night, Tropical Depression #2 was moving west-northwest near 12 mph with sustained winds of 30mph.

A westward turn is expected during the next 24 hours.

The track of the system will be over the southern Bay of Campeche early Wednesday morning and arrive near the coast of Veracruz Wednesday night.
