Police: Coral Springs Jogger Robbed After Choked Unconscious

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4) - Coral Springs Police are looking for a violent robber who attacked a jogger from behind and choked her, rendering her unconscious.

Police say the Gail Long was jogging along NW 28th St around the 9800 block just before 4 a.m. on June 7  when a man wearing a grey hoodie and shorts approached her from behind.

The man then put Long in a choke hold until she lost consciousness, police say, and then stole the MP3 player she was wearing. Long also hit her face on the pavement when she blacked out.

When the victim came to, authorities say he was still standing over her and demanded her cell phone, which she didn't have.

Before he ran off toward Coral Hills Drive, the victim told police that the man said "I'm sorry I just really need the money".

"How could you be that desperate to steal something you're not even gonna get that much money for, and do so much damage to me?" questioned Gail Long.

Security video in the area shows the man running toward the victim and then running away after the attack.
