One Direction Films Music Video, Causes Fan Frenzy On Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - For a brief few moments late Wednesday night, the scene at 14th and Euclid was a bit surreal.

Screams filled the air, bright lights flashed, and teenage girls were sobbing.  It was just before 10pm, and the British boy band One Direction stepped out of a South Beach studio to wave hello to fans who had been waiting for hours.

"1D", as they are known, was at the studio shooting a music video and clips for their website, according to production crew members who talked to CBS4's Brian Andrews.

The five members of One Direction arrived early in the day, around 8am, along with throngs of teenage girls who got the word on social media.

The group was inside the studio all day, while fans waited behind a metal fence in the parking lot across the street from the studio for a glimpse of the fabulous five.

Most of the fans were fine waiting in the heat.  However, some of their parents were not happy that their kids were being corralled across the street behind a fence.

Lupe Gonzalez grabbed her daughter and headed home after waiting for several hours and not seeing any sign of the band.

"I'm a fan of the boys. We've spent thousands of dollars on their music and tickets.  I don't like how we're all being treated out here. This isn't right," she said.

As dusk turned to night, the crowd grew in size.  Miami Beach Police got on a patrol car loud speaker and urged calm.

Finally, a representative of the group came out and said the band would make an appearance to wave to fans.

As promised, just before 10pm, Niall, Harry, Zayn, Leam, and Louis emerged from the studio waving and smiling.

Girls were screaming, shaking, taking photos, and posting to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as fast as they could.

"I drove all the way from Texas to be here for their concert," said one girl.  "I was happy to see them, even if it was just for a second like this."

The band has sold out performances at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Thursday and the American Airlines Arena on Friday night.
