Saturday's Rain Caused Flood Of Trouble In Southwest Ranches

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – More rain is in the forecast for Sunday afternoon which is not welcome news for some Broward residents who experienced minor flooding from Saturday's downpours.

"It was raining cats and dogs," said Thomas Miller. "It's bananas in the parking lot, it's horrible."

Severe storms quickly soaked roads and set off a flash flood warning for parts of Broward County.

"It was pretty scary, we didn't think we were going to make it through but it's definitely better now, just too much rain too quickly," said Elizabeth Tome.

In a parking lot off Dykes Road in Southwest Ranches several cars were left stranded, the water reached a few feet high and seeped in to cars.

"Oh man it's incredible, you can't move, you can't navigate through the corridors, standing water so high you might run the risk of shutting off so just doing what you got to do to get through here," said Ardonnis Lumpkin.

"It's really bad, the rain, I guess the (drainage) pipes can't hold the amount or rain coming down," said Jose Tome.

Some drivers were forced to detour around the flooded sections to avoid getting stuck.

"Looks like something you want to try and avoid. Try to stay dry stay safe," said Lumpkin.
