Report: Beckham Considering MLS Team In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami is already home to world class franchises like the Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins, but the city could be in line for a big addition with arguably the biggest name in the soccer world.

According to Reuters, legendary English soccer star David Beckham is planning on visiting Miami this week to explore the possibility of owning a Major League Soccer team. Former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz told Reuters that Beckham's in the "exploratory" part of his search at this time.

MLSSoccer.com reported that Beckham, who just retired from professional soccer, has a clause in his MLS contract that would allow him to buy an MLS team at a reduced price and Miami is a city said to be in consideration for an expansion team.

Reuters reported Beckham will reportedly meet with billionaire Marcelo Claure to discuss the possibility of a team in Miami.
