Isolina Maroño Elected To Sweetwater City Council

SWEETWATER (CBS4) - The results are in and Isolina Maroño has won the only contested commission seat, according to unofficial polling results Tuesday night.

Maroño, the mother of Sweetwater Mayor Manny Maroño, will serve on the Group 4 commission seat, a seat she served on an interim basis when it was left vacant by the late Vice Mayor Ariel J. Abelairas, according to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald. 

She will serve a four year term.

Maroño garnered 1,065 votes compared  to competitor Deborah Centeno, who had 406 votes. A total of 1,530 residents cast their ballots.

All results are unofficial until certified by the county.
