NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – Coke bottles were splashed across the street Friday night after a tractor trailer hauling the beverages rolled over, right into a house.

Both Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene around 7:40.

“I was screaming,” witness Handel Henri said. “We didn’t know if it was going to explode.”

Red crime scene tape designated the hot zone, where 50 to 100 gallons of spilled fuel kept firefighters busy.

Only advanced personnel could be inside the hot zone, all others were kept between the red and yellow tape, known as the warm zone, MDFR Battalion Chief Dan Guffey explained.

Investigators said the tractor trailer collided with a red sports car along Ives Dairy Road near Northeast 15th Court just as Friday rush hour was wrapping up, snarling traffic once again.

The cause of the initial crash is under investigation.

The driver lost control and the trailer tipped over, knocking into a corner home where several people were inside.

“The car tried to turn left,” Henri said. “But then it turned right and fell on top of the house.”

Three wreckers worked to right the trailer as another tow truck took the smaller car away.

Four people were injured, one seriously, according to Guffey.

The driver of the truck remained on scene with a bandage wrapped around his forearm.

Structural engineers were assessing the damage to the home after the truck was removed.

The Red Cross was called out to assist the people displaced by the accident.
