One Dead, One Injured In Grove Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One person was killed, a second injured in an overnight shooting in Coconut Grove.

Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said the shooting happened near Booker Street and William Avenue.

One person died on the scene, the other was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to an ankle.

Family members identified the man who died as 20-year old Fredrick Gibson.  They said Gibson was sitting outside after coming home from work when someone started shooting.  They’re devastated and looking for answers.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators that they saw someone running from the area after the gunfire but were not able to provide a description.

Police have not released the name of the injured man or what may have led up to the shooting.
