"Night Court" Alum To Receive Honorary Degree

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Actor John Larroquette will receive an honorary degree and conservationist Marcus Eriksen will serve as commencement speaker at the University of New Orleans's graduation ceremony on May 17.

Larroquette is a New Orleans native who won four Emmy Awards for his role on the television comedy series "Night Court" and has appeared on stage and in films. He has a recurring role on the NBC series "Deception."

He won a Tony Award in 2011 for his role in the revival of "How to Succeed in Show Business Without Really Trying."

Eriksen, a Metairie native, is executive director and co-founder of the 5 Gyres Institute, which focuses on marine conservation.

The graduation ceremonies are scheduled for 7 p.m. at the UNO Lakefront Arena.
